Heavenly Father, Like Mary, I too wonder, who am I that the Lord would greet me as favored. Mary was astonished and humbled by the angel’s address and announcement that she, a poor virgin, living an ordinary life would carry Your Son—the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Mary’s story reminds me that You often choose the least expected, the overlooked, and the ordinary to do extraordinary things for Your glory. Lord, You see beyond the world’s measures of worth. You call women without fame, status, or accolades to serve You in holy and unique ways. May my heart hold both humility and astonishment, yet also a confident assurance that if You have chosen me, You will equip me. If You have called me, it is because You see something special in me, and I am capable and precious in Your sight. Help me remember always that I am—as David declared—fearfully and wonderfully made. Though the world may dismiss me as nothing special, to You I am cherished and more than enough. By myself I am unworthy, but through Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior, I have been made worthy. Just as Mary accepted her calling with grace and submission, may I also embrace the honor You place upon me. Strengthen me to walk faithfully in the work You have assigned, with courage, humility, and joy. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Inspiration for Today’s Prayer:
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be—Luke 1:26-29
